The Storm By James Wilton Dance In Bath
Widely considered the cultural heart of Somerset, Bath is a city famous for its patronage of the arts. With an impressive collection of theatres, museums, and art galleries, the city is well-equipped to cater to the needs of all art lovers, whether their tastes run to the antiquarian or the thoroughly contemporary.
Cementing this reputation, this March sees one of Europe’s hottest dance companies – James Wilton Dance – take the stage at the University Theatre, Bath, providing residents and visitors to our city with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of seeing them perform their latest artistic tour-de-force, The Storm.
Following from the success of their most recent performances – Last Man Standing and Leviathan – which saw the troupe tour the world twice over, The Storm promises an emotional and spiritual experience of sight and sound as seven dancers take to the stage to produce a dazzling display of grace and athleticism to the backdrop of a specially composed score by Michal Wojtas and Amarok.
The Storm is the place where art and science embrace. Assisting with the production is Dr. David Belin. A behavioural neuroscience lecturer at Cambridge University, Dr. Belin has provided his unique scientific input to the show. This amalgam of disciplines produces a theatre experience that needs to be felt in order to be fully appreciated, as the combination of sound, light and movement produce the same sense of awe in the audience as any real storm, the full fury of nature unleashed on the Bath stage.
